A journey to lesser known ancient cities of India - Hastinapur & Shukratal

"Once war has been undertaken, no peace is made by pretending there is no war." - Duryodhana (The Book of the Effort) This time we headed to meet some of my relatives in residing in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. After greeting & meeting, they gave us the suggestion to visit ancient cities which are also mentioned in the Epic - Mahabharat. Places to visit near Meerut/Muzaffarnagar: Shukratal:- It is situated 150km from Delhi, on the way to Haridwar. Historical Significance- It's also known as Shukteerth. This place is named after the sage Shuk. There is a canal which is a part of Ganga. It is believed that Shuk used to visit here to worship Ganga every morning. Nearby, there is a Vat Vriksha(Banian tree).   I had to capture this tree in 2 photos and still I could not cover it all as it is a huge tree. Bir Billing and Paragliding

"It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill."  This long weekend we decided to give a try to paragliding and which else location could be better than Bir-Billing for this activity. Day 1- We started our journey from Delhi towards Bir. Due to unavailability of direct bus ticket, we have to do hop journey via Kangra and Baijnath.  Delhi to Kangra- Bus Type - Semi Delux/Volvo(HRTC) Booked from - redbus.in Fare - 951₹ Kangra to Baijnath- Bus Type - Local Transport Fare - 80 ₹ After reaching baijnath, we freshen up ourselves in a hotel near bus stand. It costed 300 ₹ for 4 hrs stay. Then we reached baijnath temple. Baijnath is famous for its 13th century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva as 'Vaidyanath' which means 'the Lord of physicians'. Mesmerizing beauty of Auli

"The best view comes after hardest climb" Auli is one of the best tourist attraction points in Uttarakhand. It is situated approx. 3050 meters above the sea level. "Auli bughyal" mean Meadow. Uttarakhand Tourism Departments conducts festival every year in this place. How to reach:  The near by airports are IGI airport,Delhi and Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun. Haridwar/Rishikesh and Dehradun Railway station are near by to this place. Yellow plate taxis are available from all above places.
