Manimahesh Yatra - A pilgrimage to Shiva's abode

 A pilgrim is a wanderer with a purpose   In India, specially Himachal and Uttarakhand region, most of the hiking spots are associated with some religious aspect. I think it's the power of divinity that a person whether too young or old, can hike any altitude. This story is about such a pilgrimage which I did with my friends in 2017.  We did some research about the location/best route/transportation. Below are few details about this lake- Name: Manimahesh lake Location: Bharmour, Himachal Pradesh, India Altitude: 4190m  Trek: ~15KM We left Delhi at midnight for Chandigarh for our 4 day long trip. It was rainy season, so we were in doubt if we could really make it to Manimahesh peak as it was raining since last 2 days and trek stops by officials when it rains too much. Bir Billing and Paragliding

"It is possible to fly without motors, but not without knowledge and skill."  This long weekend we decided to give a try to paragliding and which else location could be better than Bir-Billing for this activity. Day 1- We started our journey from Delhi towards Bir. Due to unavailability of direct bus ticket, we have to do hop journey via Kangra and Baijnath.  Delhi to Kangra- Bus Type - Semi Delux/Volvo(HRTC) Booked from - redbus.in Fare - 951₹ Kangra to Baijnath- Bus Type - Local Transport Fare - 80 ₹ After reaching baijnath, we freshen up ourselves in a hotel near bus stand. It costed 300 ₹ for 4 hrs stay. Then we reached baijnath temple. Baijnath is famous for its 13th century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva as 'Vaidyanath' which means 'the Lord of physicians'. Mesmerizing beauty of Auli

"The best view comes after hardest climb" Auli is one of the best tourist attraction points in Uttarakhand. It is situated approx. 3050 meters above the sea level. "Auli bughyal" mean Meadow. Uttarakhand Tourism Departments conducts festival every year in this place. How to reach:  The near by airports are IGI airport,Delhi and Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun. Haridwar/Rishikesh and Dehradun Railway station are near by to this place. Yellow plate taxis are available from all above places. My Itenarary(22nd Dec-25th Dec'17):   Day1(22nd Dec): Actually it was Night 1 as we started our journey from Gurgaon, technology hub of north India, at 10:00 PM in a yellow plate taxi.
